As Mental Health Awareness Week begins, residents across Benton County are reminded of the importance of mental well-being and the need for community support. This annual observance, which runs from October 6-12, shines a light on the often-stigmatized topic of mental health and encourages individuals to seek help when they need it most.One local organization, the Benton County Suicide Coalition, is at the forefront of this mission, working to prevent suicide and promote mental health awareness in our community.

Pink Heals will be at Virginia Gay Hospital on Thursday, October 24th from 5-7:30PM supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Come out and visit  with us!Pink Heals is a program that partners with public safety, local businesses, and families to bring a community together. It is an organization that provides flower deliveries to show individuals that they are loved, cherished, and valuable to others.

American Red Cross to hold Vinton blood drive Thursday, Sept. 26

The American Red Cross will hold its next Vinton blood drive on Thursday, September 26th, 12:30-5:30 at the Skate Center. The United States is experiencing a blood emergency. This is when the nation's blood supply falls by 25%. It only takes about an hour to save a life. Sign up by calling 1-800-Red-Cross or going to www.redcrossblood. org  Plus you will get a $15 e-gift card and free snacks.

Pink Night at the Vinton Public Library, October 1, 6-7:30 p.m.

Virginia Gay Hospital will host a 'Pink Night' on Tuesday, October 1, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Vinton Public Library. The hospital will discuss early detection, share stories of hope, and share resources that are available to those who are affected by breast cancer. The event is free and open to the public.
